Complete newbie!

Hi, firstly i want to say im excited to be starting my cnc journey!
Ive recently bought a shapeoko pro, finally found some time to set it up, but unfortunately i noticed a capacitor loose, so i purschased a new one from carbide on monday and to my astonishment its arrived here in the uk today!! So thanks carbide, it means i can hopefully get going this weekend!
So my question is, i have carbide motion do i need to buy carbide create to get going?

Many thanks
Luke

Carbide Motion controls the machine and sends files.

Carbide Create is one way to make files, and is bundled with the machine:

There is an optional Pro license: Carbide Create Pro

I wrote up a bit on it at:

But you can use pretty much any CAD/CAM software you might wish — what would be a good choice would depend on what sort of work you wish to do and how you want to approach it.

Thank you for replying, and that is great help to me, ill look forward to reading the information, tou have so kindly sent !

Welcome to the group.

As @WillAdams said, you can use any software that you want including purchasing the Pro version of Carbide Create. But as someone new to cnc I would suggest starting out with the free version of Carbide Create in order to get familiar with the whole process.

I agree with Steven, while you are learning start with CC. It’s a great program to use and will teach you a lot. I’ve been using it for 3 years and haven’t tried anything else. Did have pro for 1 year but didn’t end up using it much.
