One computer or two — if two, the computer running Carbide Motion in the shop can be quite minimal — if getting Mac OS, an interesting option is a headless Mac Mini connected to the machine to run Carbide Motion controlled by an iPad running Sidecar

form factor — tablet with touch, convertible laptop, headless device connected to with remote control software are some of the more unusual options

budget — finding an inexpensive used rugged laptop to run Carbide Motion can be a big win here
