I’m using build 4.0.428 of Carbide Motion and my selection of XL is not being retained in the Configure Shapeoko drop down under Settings. I have to choose it each time I start CM…is this normal?
I believe that the drop-down menu does not reflect your machine’s actual configuration (i.e. it does not go and read the configuration on the machine, it’s just a static dropdown list). If you selected “Shapeoko XL”, and clicked Configure, you’re done, no need to go back to that menu.

As Julien has mentioned also check the size (mm) as this is the key to your selection of Shapeoko model.
I wish Carbide 3D will put an end to this frequent and repeatable newbie question.
