Continued Canada Post (sorry guys)

Sorry to start a new post, again I know it’ll be closed almost immediately and this will be the last thing I post.

Regarding Free Canadian Shipping…

C3D forced me to use FedEx to get “free shipping” There was nothing to say I would be charged an exorbitant amount because their “shipping” service then charges separately. Buy anything else anywhere that advertises free shipping from the US or otherwise, and you get it. The same day I ordered this, I ordered more parts for the machine, (much larger and heavier and more expensive) from Automation direct. They advertise identically. Spend over 100 CAD and get free shipping. Guess what, that’s exactly what I got. That wasn’t the first thing I’ve purchased from a US company and shipped here for free either. My order from C3D, however, IS first time I’ve had to pay a shipping fee after the fact, and if it was like 5 bucks, I’d say whatever, but still bring it up to the company that it should be very clear that even in Canada there is a small charge… but $50???

If we are “beating a dead horse” because it’s been brought up multiple times, maybe it’s time you guys re-examine how you advertise and ship things. Use a different company to ship that YOU pay for because YOU offer free shipping for spending X dollars. Or don’t say free shipping to Canada, because it’s the furthest thing from the truth. If it didn’t say free shipping to Canada all over your website, I wouldn’t have an issue with the “duties”, aside from being upset at FedEx for charging SO much. But your website says that it’s free, and it’s not. Plain and simple. Regardless how you feel about it, you can blame FedEx all you want, but you are the one losing a customer over the promise of free shipping, and I, the customer, receiving the highest cost I’ve ever seen for shipping. People saying vote to change politics… come on guys, give your head a shake. Any other company can (and does) do this properly, and you would be just as upset if you ordered something and got a 50% hidden charge after the fact.

Regardless, knowing the cost to ship things, even if there was absolutely nothing C3D can do, “out of your hands”, it is prohibitively expensive to now shop from you even if I wanted to. That should open your eyes right there. If there are multiple people upset about the same thing with the way you run your business, and advertise, maybe it’s an issue, you know? End of the day, a $50 fee (that you don’t even get as profit for your company as it goes to FedEx) just cost you at least $300 from me alone, never mind that you lost all future sales to me, and likely the other customers that have had the same issue.

I guess the part that pisses me off the most is that I bought this stuff in the first place to try and support the company, only to receive a middle finger back. Live and learn I guess?

Of note, other companies that offer free shipping know that duties etc. exist. It’s not like they are shipping it in some way that the government isn’t getting paid. Those companies pay the shipping and duties etc when they claim free shipping. The issue is, C3D claimed free, then didn’t actually pay for all the shipping charges. It’s like they expected FedEx to ship for free, then when there is a charge, go oh darn, pass it on to customer, nothing we can do if the shipping company charges money to ship things across the border! WE didn’t charge anything extra, so it’s not OUR problem!
