Perhaps other have mentioned this before me but I am controlling my Vacuum, Small air compressor and shop lights using Alexa. I changed her name to “Computer” so when I’m ready to cut I give the command “computer turn on vacuum” I feel like I’m in Star Trek. Of course Alexa can do a lot more than just turning things off and on.
Yea she can listen to everything you say. The jury is still out if google and amazon are listening to you. So watch your language when things go wrong.
In my CNC room Alexa is going to develop a hearing problem when the router is cutting away. It has worked very well over the month I have had it installed. The upside I can control the barn lights from my CNC room. It also warns me when a thunderstorm is approaching giving me a chance to disconnect electronics, I have seen to many battery/surge protector’s failures.
