Conversion to SVG Format

What is the best way or program to use to convert files (jpg, pdf, etc) or images into SVG format

I usually just use a free online converter tool such as Convertio, FreeConvert, or Adobe Express.

Carbide create has an internal tool that convert them to SVG.

As noted, Carbide Create has this feature:

The built in tracing tool in CC is actually pretty good. You have to mess around with the threshold numbers a bit to get good results. The first one, at the top is the contrast between black & white. the Second, at the bottom is how many points to use to approximate the curves.
If you need centerline tracing, a single curve from a wider curve in the original, then inkscape does a really good job of “centerline tracing”

I almost always draw my vectors because, while initially intimidating, it’s not that hard. You will always get a cleaner vector that way. That said… In automatic mode I find Lightburn is the best.

I use the open source Inkscape. Works well and is free. Plus it can do a whole lot more than convert bitmap to svg.

Lightburn is good.

If I don’t have clear contrasting boundaries I sometimes ask AI to redraw black and white and convert that

Abode Illustrator is good , but expensive if you don’t have it already.

VCarvePro I like if I want to be selective with what colours are traced.
