Crashing on final rough cut pass, can I bypass?

Hi friends, i am running a rough cut on this black walnut anvil half and on its final pass before moving on to my fine cut the bit crashes into the side of the previously perfect cut!

anyone know what or why? my 3d build is clean, no extra nodes on the stl or the carbide create file, slowed down my speed just to keep it chill but still the same problem, repeated 10 times. The other side doesnt do this.

any advice or things i can try to avoid this would be great. Thank you.

I see the gouge in the deep groove, then the rapid across the top…??

If it got hung up in the groove before retracting & rapid-ing, the Z may have lost steps.
Move the tool to where you set Z zero & check it.

Thanks Tod. i checked the z and it was ok.

My speed was too quick and i was using a down cut bit instead of an up (201) and that made enough of a difference.

not perfect, but definately better. I added a .2 mm leave behind on my rough cut here as well. , so the finish goes in to clean it up.
