Hello all, been reading the forum daily and learning more and more.
I have been using CC on my FoxAlien Vasto V2 4040 for several weeks and am quite pleased with it. I did have the PRO test license for 2 weeks, and will buy it in the near future.
Recently i ran into a bargain on an 10 month old HDM v3 and am wanting to test it out.
I have moved axis with the C Motion program and the pendant. I dont have the spindle connected to the chiller yet, I am finishing up my enclosure at the moment.
After all that here is the question.
I would like to run a program for testing but i don’t want the spindle to turn on. I know i can edit a .nc file but i don’t have pro “yet” so that eliminates that.
I am not sure if i can just unplug the spindle from the vfd box or if there is more to it. I would set my z offset so it never touches any material of the awesome HDM aluminum plate. I would like to do at least one tool change since i have never had a bit setter.
BTW way over 30 years ago i programmed a Hardinge job shop cnc for my work and ran it. Also used Hurco conversational controls.I am 70 now and wanting to make hot rod parts for my 68 Torino.
The original HDM has a spindle enable button the you can turn off. I don’t see this on the HDM3.
You can program using a spindle speed lower than the VFD minimum (8000 rpm?) and the spindle will not kick on. Might be less than 50% of the minimum, so <4000 ?? I usually just use 1 rpm.
Not sure what the HDM3 has, but spindle lockout sounds right.
Give it a try with your test program. But I still think the spindle speed 1.0 should work.
