Custom Bitrunner Cable

I want to make my own Bitrunner cable so I can route the cable under the bench. I have the correct Molex connectors, but want to know what the cable requirements, eg. cable AWG, and does the cable need to be shielded/grounded, and if there is a maximum length for the cable. My understanding is that this is a signal level cable so should not have high current requirements. I have a spool of Belden 9430 (20AWG/7 conductor) and was considering using that. Shapeoko Pro XL.

Making a custom cable would be nice but why not just splice into the existing cable somewhere in the middle and you already have the connectors in place and you just have to connect the wires together with your extension wire. I would recommend shrink wrap on each wire splice and a bigger one to go over the whole patch. Just stagger the splices out so your cable will lay relatively compact.

Thanks, that was my first plan. (and backup plan). I already needed to order some parts from Mouser, and the Molex shells and pins were only a few bucks. And I have the spool of cable and the crimp tool. Makes for a much nicer looking cable. So, I’ve made the cable, we’ll see if it works.
