Cuts deeper to the right

My machine (xxl) always cuts deeper on the right side (as you are looking at the machine). I leveled my waste board, checked the table, the y axis arms and the x axis arms are all level. The spindle mount is a little off, it is high on the right side. So I have two questions, first do you think this could be causing the problem of the deeper cut, second how do you level a spindle mount?
Thanks!

Hi Gary,

a spindle angled slightly should not result in deeper cuts on one side, as the X axis translates the entire spindle horizontally across the wasteboard, and assuming the X/Y arms are indeed square, this means the tip of the endmill travels fully horizontally. What you should see with your angled spindle is very poor surface quality of the bottom of you pockets though (i.e. not nice and flat but striped)

You could put shims between the spindle mount and the spindle to make it fully vertical, and see if it changes anything (it shouldn’t, but then your pockets will look better)

Sorry for the obvious question but did you surface the wasteboard after checking every mechanically ?

Somehow, the X axis not being fully parallel to the surface of the wasteboard, is your most likely explanation

Cheers,
Julien
