Cutting Acrylic

I’m making guitar building templates out of cast acrylic. I have some great designs but am running into difficulty with the acrylic. Any ideas on optimal settings for cutouts/profiles? Also, Inhabe an MC etcher but. Is this good for engraving on cast acrylic or better to use a v-bit?

Thanks in advance! -Mark

Use single flute tooling (and make sure it’s cast, not extruded)

an M.C. Etcher works well on acrylic:

Thoughts on feeds and speeds for engraving text with the etcher?

Use the defaults in the CC library they work well.
The default depth of cut is .010 which is good. That’s enough to cover the thickness variations in cast acrylic.

The spring pressure on the McEtcher is the real control point. A quarter turn is a noticeable change. Start with the set screw flush to the top and test. Note if you are getting a curl/chip.

The density of the design will steer you to have heavy a cut you will end up with.

Thanks for this. As I’m not a frequent user of this site, where do I find the cc library?
