Cutting Depth Question

Hello! New here. Hoping to invest in a 5.1 pro soon …?

Newbie cutting depth question - do you guys think this machine can handle a single pass of 7.5mm (.295”) with an 1/8th end mill @ 30-40ipm? I cut into hard maple end grain, and would probably be upgrading to the 65mm spindle.

My Makerspace’s industrial machine can handle this fine, but have no clue if a smaller machine like the Shapeoko can handle these depths.

Any help would be awesome!

I expect this would be fine so long as the cutter could handle the cutting forces. That said, I don’t own a 5.1 so I’ll defer to folks with first hand experience.

I have a S5 Pro with the 65mm ER11 collet. The S5 Pro has more than enough power to do this, the weak link here is the bit based on my experience.
