Cutting MDF with Formica lamentate

Hi All,

Any thoughts or tips for working with MDF laminated with Formica? I want to create a drill press table, so my plan is to create a slab and mill out the dado to instal t-track etc.

My thought is to create a shallow tool path for the first pass to get through the laminate. Then let Carbide3D figure out the rest of the passes to the right depth.

Thoughts appreciated.

The formica tends to chip - add a sacrificial piece (1/4-1/8" plywood) over the top of the laminate. When you cut through the plywood and laminate together, the laminate won’t chip.
