Cutting outside borders

Hello everyone. What end mill bit do you use to cut outside borders for signs thank you.

The router will cut beyond the borders of the material up and until you hit the mechanical stops on the machine. On many 3d objects you must cut past the edge of the material. Also if you are cutting a slot you want to be the full width of the slot off the edge of the material you extend your rectangle beyond the edge or you get a rounded corner just shy of the edge of the material.

I usually use a downcut bit for the perimeter as the sign needs to be presentable on the face as it cuts much cleaner on the top of the material. You’ll likely get a little tearout on the bottomside but that’s what sandpaper is for!
