can’t delete 1/2 of the circles on the ends of my insert.
insert is 14.5" x 3.975". both ends are round. when I add the ends, I get full circles. I need to delete 1/2 of each circle on the interior.
I’m lost!
There are a couple of ways to do this.
The easiest is to draw a narrow rectangle and round the corners/ends:
Or, you can draw a rectangle and two circles:
and either Boolean Union:
or Node Edit or Trim Vectors to arrive at the desired shape:

Done
Snap your circles to the placement you need at each end. Select the rectangle and one circle. Do a Boolean on that image. Do the same for the other end.
Although it is not aligned properly in my image here, is this what you are trying to get?
Thank you for your quick response!
I have CC, build 623, and my choices of actions on the left are not what you have.
??
It works pretty much the same, just the screens look different.
We don’t support v6, see:
for why, so you should update.
Will, I notice that you have CC PRO. I’ve been contemplating buying V CARVE. Does CC Pro have comparable 3D functions to Vcarve?
Vectric Aspire is the Vectric program which has 3D modeling — my understanding is that the 3D modeling tools in CC Pro are like to those in Aspire, but I’ve never use any Vectric software beyond Design and Make and Vectric Vcarve Desktop.
The way I would do it would to add a rectangle 14.5 X 3.975". Then make your grid .5". Then add your circle with the radius or 3.975/2 and then copy and paste your circles. Select your circles and move them to each circle is hitting the center of your rectangle on each side. You can now delete your 14.5 x 3.975" rectangle. Then make another rectangle that is [3.975"/2]+ [3.975"/2]-14.5=10.525 by 3.975. Place the center of each end of the rectangle in the center of the circles. Now do a boolean like @WillAdams showed and you will have your insert shaped.

You could delete the first rectangle but I just moved it out of the way.

There are a lot of ways to make an object in CC but it usually requires you to make some objects to help keep the project constrained like the first rectangle.
@WillAdams @gdon_2003 - Won’t the “Fillet” tool also achieve this corner rounding? Obviously, I don’t use Carbide Create often enough!
@MrChips - I have an older version of Aspire. The downside is that Aspire is MUCH more expensive than CC Pro albeit, Aspire is very sophisticated as far as converting artistic ideas into actual projects.
From what I’m seeing in @WillAdams tutorials though, CC Pro is making great strides and is certainly an option to consider.
Note: CC Pro wasn’t available when I purchased Aspire, and so, that’s why I have Aspire.
Pretty sure CC Pro is free to try though?
Yes, that was why I showed it as the first option in my post:
Thanks Will, that one slipped right past me!
