Depth of cut will not change

I’ve been experiencing a problem with depth of cut doing a V-carve . I started out setting max depth of cut at .125 inches. After the cut finished it looked very shallow. I miched it to be .043. So I adjusted the depth of cut to.30. It still stayed at .043. Again I adjusted max depth to .40 . Same result. I double and triple checked all settings and all look good
Any ideas what could be causing this problem

Please post your .c2d file and step-by-step notes on how you are securing your stock and setting zero relative to it and managing all tool changes and a photo showing an attempt at cutting still in place on the machine and the machine at the zero point or a specified offset from there.

I probed the front left corner using a straight bit then I changed to a 90 degree V bit to make the cut . I changed the depth of cut 4 times, starting with.125, .30, .40 then.50 and the depth never changed

V-Carve will set the depth so that the tool is tangent to both vectors & will not go any deeper.
With a 90° vee bit the depth will be 1/2 the distance between the vectors.

The only time Max Depth comes into play is if the vectors are wider than the tool diameter, or wider than 2x the max depth (for a 90° tool). V-Carve will trace the centerline between the vectors at that depth, leaving the cut line 2x max depth in width, even if the design is wider.
Advanced V-Carve will trace both sides at that depth, and if the clearing pocket tool is enabled it will use the stepover on the V-bit to clear between the vectors.

Sorry, I do not understand any part. Can you put it in simpler terms. So how can I get the machine to cut deeper?

The circle I want to V-carve has 2 vectors. The tool will find the right depth so the tool touches both vectors so the line being cut is the correct width.

To get it to cut deeper with this design, you either need to edit the design so the lines are wider, or just lie to the machine & set your Z zero a little deeper.

To add on to what @Tod1d said. Another way to get deeper V-carve features is to use a bit with a smaller (more acute) angle; 60°, 30°, 20°, 15°, etc. The smaller the angle, the deeper the cut, that is until the machine reaches what you set for max depth.

Hope that helps.
