I’m cutting cast acrylic and am trying to get my depths as close as possible but keep finding that my z is anywhere from 10 - 20 thousands off my target depth. I’m only trying to cut simple geometry at .125" depth and am not getting the accuracy I desire even if I probe directly over the area I am measuring it is still off. What could be affecting this discrepancy?
What tool are you using?
What is your depth per pass?
Which machine do you have w/ which Z-axis?
.25 upcut end mill.
depth per pass .05
shapeoko 3 xxl (purchased 2 years ago, not sure which z but has ball screw)
It figures after I finally take time to post about my issue I run another practice cut and I’m within .001 accuracy. I know there’s a ton of factors that go in play here, sometimes I don’t know where to start
Just being curious: did you change your workholding setup betwen the run that “failed” and that one ?
No I can think of any changes that were made actually… ideally I would like to hit that level of accuracy every time but I feel like I’d have to have an acute awareness of like a thousand different things to know what’s affecting my accuracy
