I recent upgraded to a z-plus from the original belt drive for my shapeoko 3 XXL. Ever since installing it I’ve been running into issues with semi-random disconnects which had never occurred for the year or so I’ve had the machine prior to the upgrade. The only material I’m running are hardwoods (cherry, walnut, etc.)
The machine will run a program fine for about an hour before having the issue. If I run the same program again it’s able to go through the path that has already been cut but once it gets past the previous stopping point it then will disconnect about 5 minutes later. If it matters at all the types of cuts where it does not disconnect are 1" pocketed holes so there’s frequent movement in all three axis and where I’m seeing the disconnect is during the contour tool path to cut out the parts where it’s mostly x/y movement and z is stationary until the path is followed and it lowers to the next depth of cut.
I’ve tried doing air runs and those complete with no disconnect
I’ve tried running it without the dust collection on and still the disconnects happen which I’m thinking rules out the hose as a cause for static build-up.
I’ve replaced the brushes and the USB cable. I’ve plugged the USB cable into multiple ports
I’ve tried to make sure all cables are not touching each other. I’ve plugged the laptop power to a separate outlet then the controller/spindle. The spindle power cord does not touch any of the rails and is not near other cables.
Thanks in advance
