Absolutely. I’ll get the outline drafted and post in this thread.
Pretty simple and cheap. Except for the blower, everything was scrap. Even the three legs.
The bottom has a hole cut in it to match the Blower output. Bottom was also reinforced to support the blower since the plywood paneling was pretty crappy. Essentially build the box around the blower with the walls sized to accomodate lightly used furnace filters.
As a side note which may not be relevant for you, I also cut into a return air duct between joists, and sealed those joist to create a return air branch into the shop, Then made provision for an opening the exact size of a filter. Would be much more effective lower, but that was all that I could come up with at the time.
Think it woud be more effective if suspended from ceiling, but with 7’ basement and not much free room to walk around, I’m frequently moving stuff, so I figured I’d be banging my head into the thing every time I moved. And ceiling mount means it stays put. Legs lets me drag it around. Coiled cord that you may be able to see was salvaged from a dead hair dryer!
LOL! No one needs a headache from running into one of these. Most of my cabinets and machinery are on wheels to move to clean the shop or reconfigure layout for different projects.
My AC is the fans blowing in the shop. My heat is me bundled up trying to stay warm. This stuff isnt as important yet. I will get it figured out. Been asked, “why not put in a wood burning stove?” Which my reply is that I would have to make room for the wood stove. I would also have to go cut firewood for it as well, which I already cut firewood for my home and my parent’s place. So much firewood cutting and I dont see cutting more firewood for another place. Cutting for 3 places would be a chore in itself and I would almost always be cutting firewood, splitting it, and stacking it to burn at these locations. Thats almost a fulltime job in itself.
I have my shop vac outside no filter, just blow it outside
