Drawing a Weber gasket

as requested on support…

First, we make a new file with Stock of a suitable size:

Then, import the pixel image:

and adjust as necessary, making sure the scaling is approximately correct:

and then positioning so that it is reasonable:

(a scanned image, rather than a photo would make this sort of thing a bit more accurate, especially if positioned squarely)

Done

Then, draw and check/adjust dimensions as desired.

For the circles, it’s easier to type the diameter:

then divide by 2 to get the radius:

The ovals may be specified directly as rectangles with Fillets:

Drawing in the balance of the elements:

and it is then simply a matter of aligning things, then determining the distance between holes (unspecified) and the necessary offset around elements.

Horizontal alignment:

For the smaller elements which are relative to larger, select a pair of stud holes:

then shift-click on the matching larger hole making it the key element:

and align to it:

Ok

Repeat for all other elements:

Looks as if 0.25" offset should work for the larger circle regions:

while for the smaller 0.1875" should work:

The slots look to need 0.625"

but temporarily turning off the Fillets should yield a better result:

Restore the Fillets

Duplicate the offset rounded rectangles in place:

and nudge the duplicates to extend the lines using the arrow keys:

Select all the Offset geometry:

and use Region Builder to define the desired outline:

Yes

Done

Delete the offset geometry:

Then draw in the desired diagonals:

Then use Region Builder to combine the two outlines:

Yes

select the desired geometry:
