Engraving Stainless/Hardened Metal

Hello, just joined the forum because I am looking for an affordable engraver. I build custom hunting rifles, and per ATF requirements I have to engrave them with the required information. Only need to go “0.003 deep, and a minimum of 1/16” tall for the lettering. Would like to do some engraving of my logo and such, but the same requirements would suffice. Total engraving size (X-Y) would only be a max of 4"x4". Tallest part would be around 2" tall.

Also would like to engrave on barrels, diameter of roughly 1.5-2". Could do one line at a time easy enough.

Would the Shapeoko do this for me?

A diamond drag engraver would work well for this — since we don’t have an FFL don’t feel comfortable commenting beyond that and to observe:

That’s great! Will this achieve a "0.003 depth? I was just looking at the Shapeoko standard size for what I needed…
