ER11 Collet Nut Torque

Usual preface, I’m with PreciseBits so while I try to only post general information take everything I say with the understanding that I have a bias.

It depends on the the thread type and bore size.

ER11 Mini (M13x0.75)

    1-2.9mm Bore
      8Nm/6ft-lb
    3-7mm Bore
      16Nm/12ft-lb
ER11 Standard/UM/A (M14x0.75)
    1-2.9mm Bore
      8Nm/6ft-lb
    3-7mm Bore
      24Nm/18ft-lb

That said these are MAX torque and with high end parts (do not use more than this or risk damage). As long as you have a good spindle, nuts, and collets you shouldn’t have an issue with less than that. You actually risk getting more runout the higher you go but pickup more slip resistance (bit spinning or pulling out of the collet).

This is from our internal data and only on a single ER16 collet with a mini nut. It’s 480 data points. The face measurement is… well the face of the collet, RMT is 1" out. This is not enough data to do more than show the pattern we’ve seen. We’ll probably put something out EVENTUALLY (when we feel we have enough data). Units are in thou (0.001"/ 0.0254mm).

Hope that’s useful. Let me know if there’s something I can help with.
