The simulation runs fine in Carbide Create, but for some reason in the middle of (a very long) operation it went rogue and started clearing parts that were supposed to stay untouched. Nervous to run it again since it takes hours. Pictures to show what I mean.
Usually this is caused by some sort of interference or binding, possibly insufficient belt tension, or too-aggressive feeds and speeds.
There looks to be a marked scalloping in your tool paths — is something dragging at the carriage?
Thank you, this is very helpful. I wasn’t sure where to start.
Nothing is dragging and I see what you are saying about the scalloping, it has pretty much no texture to it, but its definitely something.
As far as feeds and speeds, I am carving basswood with the #201 and using the preset settings for soft wood.
As for the belts, you may have nailed it there. it looks like the Y axis belt might be slightly looser than it is used to be.
I’ll fix that and try a new bit, but if you have any other thoughts based on this information, I am wide open to feedback.
Thanks again
