What is the purpose of the extra holes in the wasteboard that came with the Shapeoko 3 (see the red circles on the attached image)?
Those date back to when the machine had a two part wasteboard and a central slat which was necessary to fill in the connection.
I guess they’re using up old stock of parts — if it really bothers you, remove the wasteboard, get a matching piece of MDF and use the original as a template to drill matching holes in the new one.
Oh no, it doesn’t bother me at all! In fact, might use the holes for clamps. Was just worried that maybe I missed some critical step in assembly.
