File name loss?

Loaded up V8.0CC and now when I load a file from V7CC, it loses the file name and thinks it is a new file?? Why is it dropping the file name?

Because the file has to be converted for v8, and if saved, will not re-open in v7.

Re-save using a different name if you wish to continue to have access to the v7 file.

ok. thanks guess I should read the changes when loading a new ver.

Seems like v8 of cc has major changes and once saved as a v8 file you can not go back to v7 with that file. So before opening a v7 file in v8 rename it with v7 in the file name. After opening the v7 file in v8 “save as” and rename the v8 file with v8 in the name so you can use the original file in v7. V8 has changed a lot so unlike earlier versions is no longer compatible with earlier versions once saved in v8 format.

Even though it is the same design the format has changed. Hopefully after getting used to v8 you wont want to go back to v7 or below. I have loaded v8 but have not yet used it to design from scratch and I have a lot of v7 files I will have to convert. Also it has been noted here on the forum that 3d files with the pro license are not able to use v7 files opened in v8 without redoing the 3d part. Regular 2d/2.5d files should work fine in v8 according to other users here on the forum. Good Luck
