First Batch of Jog Pendants

Does that mean there might also be new added keyboard commands for interacting with the jog screen that this is using for the functions on this that didn’t previously exist? Or is this talking to CM via a custom driver or something?

Honestly that is not a bad idea. Maybe even a little cap to go over the nub on the wheel.

Ages ago, I used a keyboard re-mapping program to make a Wii Remote usable as a jogging pendant — it was quite nice, but then I needed to have all 4 for a vacation (and playing Red Steel 2 and Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Wii Sports Resort) and it never made it back to my machine.

@robgrz is the USB cable USB 2.0? I ask because in my experience USB cables that are more than 2.0 are far more fragile due to the increased number of wires in the same cross section. I will need to get a longer cable to go from the PC to the pendant.

As far as I know, it’s a USB 2.0 cable. The device is not using any USB 3.0 functionality.

I am unreasonably excited for this, I can finally stop using the touchpad on my laptop to navigate the gantry around.

Does it jog at similar speeds to the 1-2-3-Fast Jog options?

Kinda. Just a fast and a slow. The slow is dependant on the machine. Each click of the wheel is a stepper pulse. So it’s like 0.001" on our S4Pro, and Luke 0.0005" on our HDM.

I hope it can use a USB-C cable, as all the ports on my computer are USB-C, and I hate adapters, which I’m forced to use at the moment.

What about a USB A to USB C cable?

The pendant end is USBC, but the cable provided is USBA on the computer end. So you just need a double ended USBC cable.

Yes, it has a USB-C connector, and it works fine w/ a USB-C–C cable — the one I’m using is:

I had bought the 2-pack:

back before it had Prime Member Pricing.

@MadHatter that’s pretty much the cable which is provided.

If that number is right, it is substantially slower. The slowest on the jog screen is .001”. Is that for a micro adjustment? The “fastest” is about .01”? Can this match up to the current speeds in the Jog screen at all? Might have to keep this one and my other one to have a macro/micro solution.

I find when using the continuous jog on high that it moves pretty quickly, feels similar to “Fast”, but with more control — I haven’t found a need to use the screen/keyboard and don’t miss my (very nice) dedicated button pendant and it feels even nicer than when I trouble to load the keyboard re-mapping program for a gamepad or Wii Remote and it’s even more intuitive.

It’s a jog wheel, so it’s inherently faster if you rotate it faster. Like Will, if I need to go fast, I use the continuous jog button. I have a tenancy to fast travel to the closest point before I start jogging. Then with the pendant, use the fast/slow continuous, then wheel to the exact point.

Looks good. Any news on rotary axis support being added. Carbide3d seems behind on this

Just got mine: wonderful piece. How could I use the machine without before!

Good job C3D!

Whoever designed this should get a raise. Or at least some donuts.

Anyone know if this is Mac compatible? I’m currently using an Xbox controller with a mapping app but it doesn’t allow continuous jog.

Have you abandoned the game controller jog method all together? I’m behind the curve, since I only just started using it. It’s not bad. I guess Anti-Micro always has to be open, right?

Yes, it’s compatible with MacOS. Just need to be running the latest Carbide Motion.
