Fishing rod parts

I am using my Nomad 3 to cut parts for the fishing rods I build. I’ve been making the reel seats and rings and butt cap myself using all exotic wood products. The Nomad has made the process more exact in sizing/machining the reel seat rings and butt cap and allows for the creation of designs on the butt caps end. Has anyone else tried this? I’ve not tried to engrave the nickel-silver butt cap (usually slightly rounded) but would think it could be done. Has anyone else been doing this?

I haven’t engraved onto a shape yet, but it’s on my list of things to try in the next two weeks for a cap end similar to that on a fishing rod.

My plan is to use VCarve Desktop’s “project tool path onto shape” function but it’s probably doable in other ways.
