Fixed up my power supply

I got this Shapeoko used last summer and finally got around to using it this weekend. It seemed to power on but I noticed the motors weren’t holding and I couldn’t connect.

Tried power supply from my xxl and it worked fine. Took apart the used shapoko switch, desoldered it from wires and checked resistance. When in on position my resistance was bouncing all over in the kOhm to mOhm range. Should be pretty close to zero.

Replaced it with a new inline rocker switch from menards and now it powers up and works great.

Ran a quick vcarve in some scrap and worked perfectly.

I was curious how you carved that shape - was it using a vcarve toolpath or a contour one?

Drew it in illustrator following this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JZARIfHg2I and then imported in to vcarve desktop and ran vcarve with 90 degree bit.

Necessity is the mother of invention. I use a power strip on the front leg of my Shapeoko stand and everything plugs into it. My power switch is on top of the power supply with double sided tape. Since the power switch on the power strip is my on and off switch my stock switch is never touched. I want to make an emergency power off switch enclosure and plug the strip into that but so far the power switch on the strip has served pretty well in emergencies.

Nice design with the circles and the groves. It never hurts to dress up mundane items.
