When I create a file Gcode and run it on motion the bit starts 4” down (Yaxis) on the material I’m cutting.
Can you share the file if able. We can look at it. Using NC Viewer can give you a representation of what the file will do.

As @Zman asked attach your file. When a job starts too low or too high it is usually the origin. So if you want top of material but set bottom in the CC file that can cause either air jobs or drilling into your work surface. So double check the origin and top or bottom of material and the work piece has to set up the same as the CC file.
