Get fault that repeats at each cutting path level

Hello! I am new to the world of cnc and I have my shapeoko xxl for a few months. I am currently working on a dodecahedron shaped speaker project and my concern is :

I have excrescences that appear. Do you ever seen something like that? I check my file generate in carbide create and everything is ok.

IMO, the problem is not in the file, it is mechanical, tramming, tightening of V-wheels, belts, deflection. Do you have a precision collet? There is some kind of movement, something is not adjusted properly. Check everything mechanical.

As @luc.onthego noted, that looks mechanical, most likely plunging on deflection.

Ways to address it:

  • adjust plunge rate
  • ramp in instead of plunging straight down (if your CAM tool allows that change)
  • leave a roughing clearance larger than the deflection and then take a finishing pass — see: https://cutrocket.com/p/5c9fb998c0b69/

I concur, I was thinking about plunge rate too but I think that DOC could also have been the cause. Too much of a bite could also lead to deflection.
