Have an older Shapeoko 3xxl with the MDF bed ( no T-track) with another piece of 3/4" MDF
on top of the original bed that I use for a waste board.
Typical tools used include:
A cordless drill, a few drill bits and wood screws. I like this because I can put a screw in a place
where I know the cutter won’t hit it and keeping the part locked down to the bed.
For the collet nut on either a compact router or a spindle (I have both) standard open end / box end wrenches have worked fine.
Wrenches, made a 13 from a 14 with a little persuasion from a 10lb sledgehammer. Love the long reach Allen wrenches. Enjoy my “T” handle Allen’s, can’t torque with them though.
I have a couple of sets of 13mm - 17mm wrenches, and at least one came with my ER-11 spindle, and I just like them. They are not fancy, just grab them and go. Doesn’t matter which one goes in what hand - just turn it around if you have the wrong side out. They are the only wrenches I have that are double-sided open end wrenches, so it is easy to find them if they are not in their holder. (Note: They should never be out of the holder unless they are in my hands.)
