I am new to the CNC machine community. I have been given a Shapeoko 3XXL. In trying to get started I am getting a GRBL 6 alarm. The Grabel is going to the far North and east position and is banging into the stop position. I cannot get into the part of the program that allows you to jog the gantry. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Power down and slowly, gently move the machine to the center of each axis.
Which Z-axis do you have? If an HDZ (ball-screw) or Z-Plus (lead-screw) move it to the bottom, then all the way to the top, then back to the middle.
Does anything interfere with the machine motion?
Are the homing switches securely in place?
Is all wiring in good condition and all connectors secure?
Is the machine able to position structure so as to trigger each homing switch? Which sort of switches does your machine have? Mechanical or Proximity? Note that for Proximity Switches certain axes may be triggered by metal posts — are those posts securely in place?
Power up and connect to the machine and go to Settings | Debug, are any switches stuck on? If not, then test each homing switch — does each signal as the correct input?
Let us know what you find out.
