Grinding noise after initialization

Good morning.
I have had my Shapeoko 4 for about a year and a half. It has run perfectly fine until a few days ago. The problem is after initialization, the gantry goes to the rear right position. When it stops at the Y axis, it starts a grinding noise. I thought it was a bad Y axis sensor so I purchased and installed a new sensor. No luck. It continues to grind once it gets to rear right position.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I just screwed up my Y axis movement by sending my deep Sweepy 2 shoe into the BitSetter.
I got the dreaded grinding noise when trying to re-initialize the machine.

I checked the gantry mating to the Y axis limit switches and Y2 ( left side ) never made it.
You can not move the gantry with the controller power on.

Power off the controller. Manually move the gantry to the Y axis limit switches ( on both sides).
Power on and re-initialize. I may have had to re-init twice.

All good now.

You may have wiring issues. If you initialize the machine and the grinding noise is there you can wiggle the connectors to see if it stops. Check the connectors for any damaged pins or wires. Check the operation of the proximity sensor Make sure you have a red light on the sensor and that the connector on the PC board is good. You should see the led indicators on the PC board for that sensor turn on blue if the signal from the sensor is reaching the PC board. And even though all the lights work properly the wiring could still be the issue.

Without hearing the noise this is just pure guesswork… could it be that a belt is slipping over a pulley wheel? They are both toothed but if the belt tension is a bit loose, then they can slip and make a weird grinding sound. When and how did you last adjust the belt tension?
