I make guitars almost exclusively. I’ve been thinking of getting the HDM but my only concern is making necks as the width is only 27” of working space.
Would it be possible to mill something at an angle in fusion so I could go from corner to corner and use the roughly 34” of diagonal working space?
Yes, we’ve had a number of folks do this on our machines.
Also note that for the occasional extra long piece, you can utilize the tiling method ( = multiple cuts with sliding the piece along the Y axis between cuts, with a registration mechanism), to mill arbitrarily long pieces.
As long as you orient it and index properly, yes, you can cut angled pieces. As a side note, the 2x4 SO5 might be an easier fit for your work pieces.
