HDZ hanging at bottom of Z Axis

Finally got all the pieces for my Suckitdust collector so ready to make first cut with my HDZ upgrade installed. Cut started as normal, after a couple of plunge cuts the Z Axis stuck at bottom and did not come back up. Ruined material. I powered everything off and using pliers managed to get the router moved up manually.

I used Carbide Motion to toggle the z axis to the top and back down. It got stuck at the bottom again.

My plan is to remove the router and try adjusting the rails to see if they are out of alignment.

Any suggestions for other things that might be causing this? Possible solutions.

Check that the shaft coupler set screws haven’t come loose.

Thanks. I will check that first.

I think the safest is to contact support at support@carbide3d.com
I saw in some other threads that their fabrication methods have changed and on certain models the rails should not be loosened.

I put in a request with support.
Thanks.

Sorry to be a party pooper! I like to fix things myself before asking support, but I observed in another thread where suggestions were given which seemed to be correct on an earlier version of the HDZ, that no longer applies to newer versions. Just to prevent anyone from giving advise that are meant to be good but ends up making more problems for you. Let us know how it goes with the support

Been looking but cant find that thread again :frowning:

Support told me to loosen the rails so I did. It works fine as long as the rails are slightly loose but hangs up at bottom when tight.

They are sending a new stepper motor to see if perhaps it is just weak. We’ll see.

Also, if you are putting one of these together do not put CA glue on the green buttons. Really hard to remove if you need to loosen the rails.
