HDZ Mount holes & Linear Guide Bearings

image image image image image image image image image Just a heads up on some information:
I was having a minor performance issue after about 7-8 months with the HDZ.
After I installed a new router.
I found the right side 6mm 1.0 thread pitch mounting hole had stripped on the first few threads.
I removed the router and flange mount. 65mm

I had to remove the 4 cap screws holding the linear guide to the rail. As slide it out of the way. I re-tapped the back plate mounting hole, and use a Heli-coil insert to repair the mounting hole.

I have metric engine block and parts laying around from my BMW technician , long long technician career! So it wasn’t an issue to repair it my self…
Upon reassembly the guide slipped out of my hand and made it far enough down the rail for some of the steel ball bearings to fall out.

So I disassembled the guy bearing there was a total of 122 steel balls so during reassembly 61 per side and disassembling and reassembling the guide bearing is not difficult at all.
Tech called me within a day but only offered a send it back to them for a repair/rebuild…
.
So repairing the HDZ is possible and the guide bearings are able to be disassembled and reassembled to mount bsck on the rails
You just need the black sleeves your HDZ was shipped with👍
It was fairly simple tasks for me but to be forthcoming I have numerous upon numerous years of mechanical experience and a plethora of parts and tools from my technician days…
the guides are a little tricky but far from impossible., to get back together if you accidentally drop one or remove one and you have some bearings fall out.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
