I just wanted to post the final product and again thank everyone for their advice. This is up on cut rocket (as are all my carves) if anyone is interested.

I made a similar box quite some time back. What tooling did you use to pocket down to the ledge for the lower lid?
1/4” down cut but no offset down 3/4” leaving 1/4” at the bottom. Hope that helps.

OK, It looked deeper than 3/4" to the ledge.
