Help - It's cutting what I want it to leave and leaving what I want it to cut

I thought I followed the video instructions exactly - I bought the STL from etsy - I created the board 2.5 x 30 x 0.75 - I used the ball to load the stl - Put it exactly where I wanted it - I drew a box around the STL. I thought it should have cut around the design leaving the flowers.

You subtracted the STL rather than adding it.

I would recommend modeling the stock only to the level you want the design to appear on, then adding the STL to it at a thickness no greater than the balance of the stock thickness.
