Help marking the center of the spoil board for flatting

hello I have marked the center of my spoil board. I have found it to be between two of the support rails for the spoil board on the 2x4 machine I have. Trying to mark the xy zero for the flatting tool path I am finding to be difficult because I can not see where the machine is positioned in regard to the marks I made. Is there a way anyone has figured out how to do this? any help would be grateful.

I tried drawing up my machine based on the Rapid Positions:

but my file isn’t useful for anyone else since I implemented Gantry Shift, and have a custom spindle mount.

Have you tried following the directions from:

ya that does not seem to work with mine because it does not rapid to the exact center of the spoil board

Are you certain the exact center is required?

How does that compare to the file?

Adjust the file and use the front-left corner of the MDF instead?

yes the center is required as per the tec i talked to at carbide

Jog all the way to the front left, set the zero there, jog all the way to the back right corner, take note of those dimension, jog to a dimension half what was noted for each axis, set zero at the center.

Mach3 has/had a neat feature that you could click on an onscreen DRO and type in /2 and it would reset the position for that axis to half what the DRO was reading. I used this all the time in setup, especially on my lathe. In your example, @WillAdams, this would automatically put the zero in the center once you had zeroed the front left corner and jogged to the back right corner.

I’m at work and not at my machine, so I can’t test this with CM. Does CM have this capability?
