Apologize if this has been answered before. I’m making basically a bowl (but shaped in as guitar)
1- I’ve added the “flat” shape the same height as the stock thickness - I assume this is a standard practice when working with 3D.
2- I’ve added the subtract model to the guitar vector shape.
Why do I have the “lip” in the final 3D simulation model. (There no limit in the “show 3D” 3D model)
I was expecting the bowl to start at the top edge and transition down at a 35 degree. angle. In the simulation it looks like its starting below the top edge. I’ve added the black arrows to point to the area in question.
That is one approach — there is no wrong or right here — some designs are easier modeling only subtractively, others are simplest modeling to some portion of the thickness and then adding and subtracting, but if you want a flat surface at the top, then that should be reflected in the model and the toolpaths should match.
