Helpp needed for vcarve

I am trying to cut a logo for friend, and I am having some trouble with the rope or chain that is in between the diamond.I am trying to do an inlay it is not showing up too well. I am using a 30 degree vbit with a 1/8 in downcut bit to cut the pocket and the plug. Does anyone have any help on what might it look better? It is on a Shapeoko 5 using Carbide Create 8.

Looks like the vectors may be too close for you to get a good DOC on the rope. Maybe delete one ot two of the rope strands then offset the vector sightly on the remainder to give more room for the Vbit to cut between the remaining strands.

Did you limit the depth? Limiting depth on advanced vcarve will usually result in a shallow cut. Just use “t” for depth and see if that gets any better. Maybe just cut the rope on another piece of wood to see if it gets better.

Thanks I did use t for depth.

I will give it a try. Thanks

Is the rest of the design also thinner than expected?
You may have surfaced beyond the Z zero point.
Try adding material so you are surfacing down to the Z zero.
If you need to take 0.020" off, set the top surface to +0.020" instead of 0.000"

I don’t think so but I will give it a try. Thanks for the help.

I want to thank everyone who give me ideas to fix it. Here is the latest carve and I

think it came out well.

@taevette Looks great! So what did you end up doing to fix the problem?

I ended up going with a 1/16 bit and making the cut out a little deeper for the plug.I went from .177 in to . 180.
