I just got a new vfd spindle for my pro xxl. When ever I run it my dog freaks out and runs away. Even though my shop is a ways from the house or back yard and shop is closed. Has anyone experienced any thing like this?
Dog whistles are at a frequency humans cannot hear. The VFD runs in high frequency range 4khz to 16khz. Dogs hearing range is 40 Hz to 60 kHz so the VFD frequency is in the dogs frequency range of hearing. Plus a dog can hear 4-5 times as far as a human.
So maybe you need to get some ear muffs for your dog.
Human hearing is about 20 Hz and 20 kHz.
Most likely the PWM circuit operating at or above 20kHz that you can’t hear - or that you hear at a much reduced level - that your dog can hear quite well. It can also be two capacitors next to each other in the VFD that can create “sympathetic harmonics” if they are too close.
Give him some treats every time you turn it on and he will learn to love the noise.
@gdon_2003 You left off some of the safety equipment

Okay thanks for the information
