Homing problems Shapeoko 3 XL Belt drive

Just bought a new control panel for the used Shapeoko 3 XL Belt drive I recently purchased.

I’m having problems homing…when I try to set up it shakes and grinds on the Z axis with no movement in X or Y. I also bought and connected a BitZero 2.0 and have now also
connected that to the reserved spot on my board which is 2.4g

I’m more than a little frustrated that I can’t speak with someone especially given the money I just spent to upgrade.

The debug reads as follows:

Machine: Shapeoko
GRBL Version: 1.1f

Carbide Motion 640
Machine Controller State: INIT
Grbl Cycle: Idle

On support, we responded asking for a photograph of your controller — we will work with you on that basis in the support queue.

When initializing the first thing that happens is the Z homes. If the Z does not home the X and Y do not start.

If you have a belt drive Z then remove it and inspect the belt and the tensioning mechanism. The belts can come loose or get stripped over time.

The Belt Z on an SO3 works but a Z-Plus is much better. However to upgrade to the Z-Plus you must also have proximity switches. Both the Z-Plus and the proximity switches are worth the investment to make your SO3 last a long time into the future.

I started with a belt Z but upgraded to an HDZ and that was one of the best upgrades I ever did.
