I have the shapeoko router and it’s relatively new. got the machine (4x) about 5 months ago. recently the router is getting real hot and making squealing sounds. I changed the brushes but that didn’t help. So I need to get a new router or is there something I can do to fix it.

If it’s under warranty, let us know at support@carbide3d.com and we’ll work out how to handle it, otherwise, most folks just replace it, or upgrade to a VFD spindle.
Unfortunately a hot router & squealing means the main bearing is shot - continued use can result in the router shaft totally siezing up &/or the motor windings burning out.
Your best option is to get it replaced via C3D if it’s still under warranty.
Having a spare C3D or Makita router on hand when one goes bad is pretty much a necessity. Also applies to the VFD’s - doesn’t hurt to have a fallback option when you just need to get something completed.
Did it quit working after you let the magic smoke out?
