How do I chuck a 1/8 bit

Hi Gus I’m about to cut my first job with the 1/8 bit that comes in the starter bit set.
I bought the compact router with my new shapeoko pro 5. I can’t see a way to mount the 1/8 bit in the router?

The router should have come with a set of precision collets one 0.25" and one 0.125". Just unscrew the collet nut all the way, remove the 1/4", clean the collet, taper, and nut, swap in the collet to match the tooling being used. If you don’t have the 0.125" collet you will need to order one. The Carbide precision collet set is a good choice.

As Lester said, you need to completely remove the nut on the bottom of your router. You should have received two collets with your new machine, plus I believe one that’s already in the router. Some times the collet will be “stuck” and difficult to remove by hand. Very gently use a pair of pliers to wiggle the collet out. Don’t put too much pressure as you don’t want to damage router housing where the collet goes in.

There were no extra collets with the router I received? It has one that fits 1/4 bits

If you didn’t receive both the 1/4 and 1/8 collets the you can send a message to support and the will send you the one you are missing.

You can buy a set of sae and metric collets from eclaircorp.com for the c3d router. If you have the C3D spindle it is an er collet.

Those collets should have been in a little bag with brown paper around them, and I believe they are in the box. But yes, as mentioned if you dont have them, send us an e-mail on support.
They should look like this: Precision Collets for Carbide Compact Router - Carbide 3D
