How to add a 30 Degree V-Bit into the Carbide Create Library

Hello everyone. Nebie here.
I am trying to add the IDC Woodcraft 30 degree Engraving V-Bit. I am confused on the proper inputs for geometry and speeds/feeds.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Happy CNC’ing!

See:

as a starting point, but verify against the actual tool geometry.

IDC has a Carbide Create compatible file for importing into the tool database.

Here is my custom database for a 15 and 20 degree vee bit. It says 20/30 but there is no 30. As others mentioned there is IDC and the Amana. Start with their 30 degree parameters and maybe a little less and go from there.

number vendor model URL name type diameter cornerradius flutelength shaftdiameter angle numflutes stickout coating metric notes machine material plungerate feedrate rpm depth cutpower finishallowance 3dstepover 3dfeedrate 3drpm
703 Foos 703 703 15 degree vee vee 0.25 0 0.5 0 15 2 1.5 0 8 14 18000 0.05 0 10 14 18000
704 Foos 704 20 Degree Vee vee 0.25 0 0.5 0 20 2 1.5 0 8 10 18000 0.05 0 10 10 18000

One thing to be aware of is some vee bits do not have a point at the end and are round. If the end is round and pointy all vcarves will be a little bit deeper than expected. The reason is the round nose tricks the BitSetter. The BitSetter is expecting the pointy end and a round nosed end will appear wrong to the BitSetter. So get a magnifying glass and check for a pointy end. Periodically check that the tip is not knocked off.
