How to ensure surfacing bit doesn't plunge in material?

I have a surfacing bit, but it’s just the vertical faces, no plunge allowed. Other than turning it on and manually jogging it, is there a way with Carbide Create & Carbide Motion that I could have it do the plunging outside the work face?

Attached is a pic of the bit. Should be clear why I’m not keen on plunging inside the work face (though perhaps I could do it to a very small amount, as the teeth reach lower than the shank).

You should be taking such a light cut, w/ such a small value for depth per pass and such a shallow total depth of cut that plunging won’t be an issue.
