How would i make a toolpath to cut the background piece like in this photo?
If you already have the text, it should be a matter of selecting it all and creating “offset” geometry extending outwards : that would create the outline of the black part. Then use a simple contour toolpath on that outline to cut it.
If you mean cutting the text and background from a single piece of stick, same thing but create a pocket toolpath after selecting both the text and the outline: the pocket toolpath should cut “in between”, to the desired depth. You would of course need a small diameter endmill, to get in between the letters.
