How to recreate this pattern?

Hi, I’m trying to recreate this pattern I found on some veneered plywood and I can’t seem to figure out the best way. I’m fairly new and inexperienced so this may be a pretty simple task.

It would be much easier if you take the picture looking straight on & from a bit of a distance.
It can be done with this picture, but it requires a little extra work squaring it up & removing the perspective.

Unfortunately I don’t have the plywood. I got the picture from a craigslist add and the company that makes it doesn’t have any better pictures. Haven’t been able to get ahold of the craigslist seller. It’s a bit of a weird situation haha

That’s OK. It can still be done. The question is, what do you intend to do with it?
Are you going to cut the pattern into a full sheet of plywood? (48" wide?).
Does the pattern need to repeat/tile both vertically & horizontally?

If you look at the pattern, it looks like these 6 shapes repeated in an array…

Or would you rather have a centerline to cut the grooves all one size?

I intend to use it as a backsplash between upper and lower cabinets in a kitchen. It will be a piece of 3/4" solid walnut about 2’x5’. If I’m correctly understanding what your saying I would try and cut grooves all one thickness. I tried tracing a line in between the “leaves” and then using the “offset vector” to trace the interior of the leaves but that didn’t work. If i could just get down that one pattern it should be pretty easy to copy and paste I think.

Serif’s Affinity Photo has a “Live Projection” feature which more-or-less allows straightening things out:

which we can then import into a tool which allows expanding strokes:

where we send the pixel image to a locked background layer and adjust the document size:

and it is then possible to re-draw along the centerline:

Expand all the strokes:

OK

which once all unioned looks as expected in outline view:

Export and convert to an SVG:

which may then be closed at the ends:

and then the interior spaces assigned to have textured toolpaths:

which with a bit of adjustment yields:

Attached as a v7 file.
