How to set my longmill MK 2 as my default machine

Designing projects in carbide 3D and cant get it to be save as a gcode for my longmill MK2 30"x 30" cnc machine. can someone help wit this

What version of Carbide Create are you using? The “free” version 7 cannot export plain gcode (.nc files). For that functionality, you must pay for and use v7 PRO.

Hope this helps.

As noted at:

The new v7 requires a Pro license to output G-code — it stores toolpaths in the .c2d file so that they can be sent to the machine by Carbide Motion which only works w/ Carbide 3D machines.

If you don’t have a Carbide 3D machine, and are unwilling to purchase a Pro license you will need to use the free, but unsupported v6 (see the above blog post for a link).

In Carbide Create the job setup there is a legacy machine selection that does not work. So as far as CC is concerned it does not matter what machine you have. As @dwardio and @WillAdams said above you cannot use v7 to get separate gcode files unless you purchase a pro license. However the last version of CC v6 can still export gcode as a separate file. In v7 they encrypt the gcode into the c2d file itself and the later versions of Carbide Motion can extract the gcode. So to use CC with a 3rd party machine you will need to use CC v6 or pay for the V7 Pro version.

Additionally in CC you need to pick a post processor for the generic gcode but not for any Carbide3D machines. The C3D machine post processors have extra gcode commands for the BitSetter and other featured exclusive to C3D machines. If you pick a C3D machine in post processor even with a gcode file it may load and then the machine just sit there because the gcode commands included cannot be understood by your machine.
